Meet J’adore Pastry

J’adore Pastry is a celebration of food, culture, art, and community. Since 2022, Youssef Boudarine and Ariel Hendrickson have been crafting delicious and memorable experiences for Indianapolis.

About J’adore

Founded in 2022 by Youssef Boudarine and Ariel Hendrickson, J’adore Pastry is a celebration of food, culture, art, and community. What began as private dinners, pop-ups, and farmers market stalls quickly grew into a movement fueled by the love and support of the Indianapolis community.

J’adore isn’t just about making pastries—it’s about making a difference. Youssef and Ariel noticed a gap in the industry: a lack of joy and mentorship for emerging chefs. Guided by their philosophy, “Whenever a door is opened, hold it for the person behind you,” J’adore has become a platform for supporting and uplifting new culinary talent.

J’adore is committed to a few core values: community, quality, diversity, and a “yes” culture. Youssef and Ariel believe good food should be accessible to everyone and are working to make that vision a reality through initiatives like Epicurean Indy and collaborations with like-minded culinary creatives.

You can taste their passion in every bite. Find J’adore pastries at pop ups around Indy, at Bluebeard, and follow along as they redefine the culinary experience, one project at a time.

Youssef Boudarine

Youssef Boudarine was born to a large Berber family in a small town in Morocco. He enjoyed a rich career in Paris and across Europe, then arrived in Indianapolis in 2016 to share his love of French pastry with a new audience. After several years of challenges and setbacks in the Indy culinary scene, he found a home at Bluebeard creating desserts for their ever-changing menu. With Bluebeard's support, he launched his own business, J'adore Pastry.

Through J'adore, Youssef began collaborating with minority- and women-owned small businesses at pop-ups and special events. He believes that through connection and visibility, each individual can bring their passion to life. This belief recently culminated in Epicurean Indy, an international festival celebrating food, music, and art. Epicurean Indy featured chefs and artists representing more than 30 countries from around the world, and the Indianapolis community responded in an epic way. Throngs of people flooded in to the festival, many vendors sold out of their products and people exclaimed that "Indianapolis needs this!" Youssef's dedication to expanding diversity and inclusion in the culinary scene is still in the early stages. Less than a month after Epicurean, he is planning two more events to showcase authentic food and culture in his city.

Ariel Hendrickson

Ariel Hendrickson thrives on helping others succeed in their passions. Raised in a creative, community-focused family, she blends artistry, problem-solving, and heartfelt hospitality into everything she does. A graduate of the Herron School of Art & Design, Ariel studied printmaking, book arts, and art history. While her formal training is in the arts, her career in hospitality began early—throwing children’s birthday parties at just 14. Over the next 15+ years, Ariel honed her expertise in beverage service, management, and event coordination, working with some of Indianapolis’ most iconic independent restaurants, including her time on the opening team at Tinker Street. It was there, alongside her colleagues, that she discovered hospitality was more than a job—it was a lifestyle, a career, and a means to foster connection and joy.

In 2022, she and Youssef created J’adore, uniting their shared love of food, fun, and art. At J’adore, Ariel leads client communication, event planning, and front-of-house operations, bringing people together through meaningful experiences. Outside of work, she enjoys ceramics, gardening, and spending time with her cats, always with her signature red hair and creative spark.
